Nordstrom Shopping Bag

I don't even know where to begin with this cake. I am so ridiculously proud of how this came together. I feel like this is one of the best things I've ever done. I'm so pleased. Really.

All the fondant was laid in panels instead of draped over to create the creases and corners that shopping bags (and shoe boxes) have. The only cake is the actual bag, and it was topped with gumpaste tissue paper. The shoe box is rice krispy, the writing was painted on using regular gel food color.

The lipstick, compact and pearl necklace are all gumpaste, decorated with luster to make them shine and have a pretty metallic color.

But my real pride is that shoe. I am so incredibly happy with how that heel turned out. It's several layers thick so each layer of gumpaste had a chance to dry, and there are three different frames throughout the high heel. One in the sole, one in the heel and one to hold up the toe strap.

I really really pushed myself on this one. And so long as it survives its really long drive and trek through the state fair to make it to the party, I think they'll love it. I do. I just hope it's sturdy enough. EDIT: THEY LOVED IT!!! Yaaayyyyy! The cake made it to the fair intact and beautiful and the birthday girl was happy with it! Whooooo!!!!
